The Sarah’s Locs Package

Sarah’s Locs is offered as a package of 3 visits:

1. The Sisterlocks® Consultation
2. The Locking Session (may be 1 to 3 days)
3. The follow-up re-tightening session (done after at least 2 shampooings).

First Visit: The Consultation

During this session you and Sarah will discuss your personal hair care history, your styling preferences and your lifestyle in order to determine if Sarah’s Locs is right for you. You will also have a cluster of approximately 8-12 "SAMPLE LOCKS" put in your hair to see if they will hold, check sizes, verify the amount of scalp showing, settling-in time, etc. This consultation is essential for both you and Sarah to ensure you get your Sarah’s Locs done in the most suitable way.

Second Visit: The Locking Session

Bring a good book because the locking process can take from 10-20 hours or even longer in some cases. The average Sarah’s Locs customer will leave this session with an average of 400 locks and a whole new attitude! Your Consultant will provide you with a "Starter Kit" that includes the proper shampoo for starting your locks, tiny rubber bands and "tip sheets" on grooming and shampooing as your locks settle in. Be sure to schedule your follow-up visit before you leave. Good maintenance is the key to gorgeous Sarah’s Locs over time.

Third Visit: Follow-up

This visit should be scheduled after at least two shampooings, which is usually within one month from the date of your Locking Session. Sarah will monitor the integrity of your locks, tighten them up and give you an idea of how long the settling-in process is likely to take. You can also begin discussing styling tips for the 'total look' that's right for you!

Ongoing Follow-up Visits

It is recommend that you schedule your first few re-tightening visits at 4-6 week intervals. This way the progress of your locks can be easily monitored. As your locks mature, your Consultant will be able to determine how often you will need to come in for re-tightening on a regular basis. The average time between visits is 4-8 weeks, depending on the hair type and rate of growth.

Appointment Instructions

Prior to your locking session:

These instructions are very important leading up to your upcoming locking session.

  1. Come to your appointment with your hair clean.

  2. Please do not blow dry, straighten, braid, nor plait your hair in any way.

  3. Do not add any water, conditioners, oils or moisturizers.

Please do not plan any other activities the day or days of your installation appointment. It is impossible to predict exactly how long your locking session will take.

After your locking session:

Here are some tips to help make your Sarah’s Locs experience go as smoothly as possible:

1. FOLLOW the shampooing instructions in your Starter Kit. Most importantly, be sure to BUNDLE - Braid sections of your hair together, tuck the ends, and secure with a rubber bands prior to shampooing. Rinse is very important.

2. SEPARATE your locks from the root after EVERY shampoo. This is important to keep locks form joining together and it can reduce your re-tightening time. Dry hair thoroughly before going to bed. This prevents mildew and odor from forming in your locks.

3. DO NOT USE OIL-BASE PRODUCTS. Your new locks are in a “settling in” phase. Softening agents found in moisturizes and conditioners can cause your hair to resist the locking process and cause build-up especially if they are not water-soluble.

General Maintenance

IF YOU ARE SICK, AT ANY STAGE, PLEASE RE-SCHEDULE. IF YOU COME IN EXHIBIT SIGNS OF ILLNESS YOUR APPOINTMENT WILL BE CANCELED.

  1. It is important to maintain regular maintenance. Re-tightening typically ranges between 3-5 hours, If you do not re-tighten you locks on schedule your time and costs will increase.

  2. For health reasons please come to your appointments with your hair clean and completely product free. Shampoo no later than 24 hours before your appointment. If your hair is not cleaned, your appointment will be re- scheduled and additional fees may apply.

  3. Your next appointment should always be scheduled before you leave to ensure availability.

  4. Your re-tightening appointment is an excellent time to purchase your Sisterlocks® products.
